Plus, the non-skinny denim styles we're loving RN, including flares and barrel jeans

Finding the best jeans for women that actually suit your figure is no easy feat in 2024. Whether you’re after a killer pair of Levi’s jeans (easily one of our fave denim brands), an everyday Mom style or channelling any of this season's biggest jeans trends, searching for that perfect fit can feel like a daunting task.

But there's no need to scour the high street for a good pair of jeans. News flash: we reckon your perfect denim dreams can be achieved while SFH (that’s shopping from home, if you hadn’t guessed). Because even though browsing IRL is fun, looking for jeans is not a chill task.

What’s even worse than pounding pavements? The hot, stuffy and miserable experience of trying on hundreds of pairs of jeans in the world’s most unflattering lighting, in front of changing room mirrors. It’s actually kinder to yourself to shop for denim online. You can have a trying-on sesh in the comfort of your own home, as well as testing several outfit options to see if they actually work with your wardrobe.

This is so personal to you, guys. We believe denim shopping is like, err, looking for your next home: basically, it’s stressful, will take ages and once you find ‘the one’ you have to act fast. A fitting analogy if you live in your denim like we do. Still, if you need pointing in the right direction to find your go-to denim brand, we'd recommend checking out & Other Stories and Topshop on the high street; designer brands like Mother Denim and 7 for all Mankind; as well as Mango for great curve options.

Again, totally personal. Different jeans look good on different kinds of figures (more on that below). But if we could narrow it down to one or two styles, we think straight-leg jeans are an all-round winner and wide-leg flares look great on everyone – even petites, with the help of some great platform boots.

Erm, by trying on hundreds (we joke) of pairs? The best jeans for everybody are, ultimately, the ones that make you feel the most confident. Having said that, some trends do cater to certain body shapes, so here’s a quick low-down on how to find that all important comfy (and hella flattering) fit.

– If you’ve got bigger hips and thighs, a stretchy straight-leg jean is what denim dreams are made of. More structured than standard skinny jeans, this style will skim over any lumps and bumps and can easily be smartened up for casual days in the office or nights out.

– Straight-up-and-down gals, why not try the boyfriend fit? The more relaxed shape instantly adds curves and looks all kinds of laidback chic when styled with a cropped white tee.

– Petites, we deffo recommend trying the cropped kick-flare. The already shortened fit will hit your ankle at just the right spot. Yep, put down the scissors – your days of trimming your hems at home are behind you.

– And if you’ve been blessed with legs for days, a floor-sweeping wide-leg or flared style is a taller woman's best friend. There are more ‘70s-inspired designs out there than ever.

The list goes on, so we’ve made life a little bit easier by rounding up our fave pairs for every size, shape and style. (FYI, there are a lot, so you might as well go ahead and order a few). From classic boot-cut jeans and Free Peoples’ cool-girl flares, to retro Mom jeans and the legendary skinny style fashion just can’t shake off, these are the best jeans for women to shop in 2024.

We’ve spotted Free People’s iconic Firecracker jeans all over our IG recently. With a cool ‘70s-inspired flared leg and amazing star patches, this style is perfect for amping up casual looks.

With the demise of the skinny, we’re all in search of something streamlined to wear with everyday outfits – and this Topshop pair is the ideal solution. Our fave Brit brand as we know it might have shuttered (sob), but luckily ASOS swooped in to save the day.

The metallic trouser trend is going nowhere, ppl. And with festive szn just around the corner, River Island’s shiny foiled jeans are basically a guaranteed sell-out.

Our Curve Editor swears by these versatile ‘Dad’ jeans from Asos. “I personally love a little stretch in my jeans – especially if I’m going to be sitting for most of the day,” she says. “This pair have the perfect amount of stretch without losing their structured straight leg.”Read Cosmo’s full round-up of the best plus-size jeans here.

If you just can’t get on board with thick, restrictive denim, say hello to Cos’ hella comfy jeans. This style is basically a cross between your fave tracksuit bottoms (clock the elasticated, drawstring waist) and smart wide-leg trousers.

An exaggerated barrel shape, the horseshoe jean is 2024’s latest denim trend. We personally love the flattering curve shape on this style from Everlane – it will take basic outfits from boring to buzzworthy.

Trust AllSaints to bring a grungy, streetwear edge to its latest denim drop. This echo design is all kinds of cool with its exposed seams, cargo pockets and distressed detailing. Go full indie sleaze and style yours with cropped band tees and bashed-up biker boots.

Two-tone jeans are still high on our wish list for 2024, but if the designer iterations are out of question, check out Mint Velvet’s more affordable take on the trend. We love the high-waistband, flared silhouette and everyday blue wash.

If you thought Damson Madder was only good for pretty floral dresses, think again. The London-based brand has totally nailed the barrel leg jean trend here. We'll be wearing these indigo beauties with the amazing matching puff-sleeve shirt and pilgrim collar blouses.

The oversized patch pockets, high-rise waist and straight silhouette on these jeans from Whistles makes them ideal for throwing on at the weekend. Wear yours with a baggy white tee or cropped cardigans this spring.

We're always keen to experiment with swapping trusty dark denim styles for a lighter wash. We love the relaxed fit on these River Island jeans. They are giving vintage 501's, ngl.

If your office dress code is a lil’ more causal, you can totes get away with rocking a pair of jeans to work. Simply opt for a more tailored cut in a dark-wash to keep the things feeling smart.

Agolde is the LA-based denim brand that fashion editors everywhere swear by. Originally founded in 1993, it has been leading the way in the jean world for more than 30 years, and definitely knows a thing or two about reinventing the classics. If you love a straight-leg cut but find it a little safe, opt for this cropped style – it will look super cute with ballet flats and loafers.

We love a bootcut flare – you know, the jeans that are cut slim on the thigh and kick out below the knee? We think Mango’s would look GREAT with cowboy boots.

If you’re going to invest in designer jeans, we can’t recommend Ganni’s enough. Not only is the leopard print beyond cool (and a huge autumn winter fashion trend FYI), these babies are actually crafted from organic cotton so are way less likely to chafe and rub.

We’ve seen all the influencer girlies in brown jeans lately and after seeing this amaze iteration from Arket, we are officially sold. Style yours with white cowboy boots and chunky knits now and switch to ribbed vests and flip flops come summer.

Fanfare Label is the new denim brand to have on your radar. All its jeans use fabrics that would otherwise go to waste in landfill and reuse them to create unique designs like this chevron stitched pair.

We love all of 7 For All Mankind's jeans but especially this dark grey bootcut pair. We’ll be wearing them white tees at the weekend and corset tops for Friday night drinks.

Since Reformation debuted its denim collection back in 2017, it’s quickly become a fashion editor favourite. We think this Abby style is perfect for everyday lewks with its high waist and straight-leg silhouette.

Barrel jeans are having a serious moment RN, and we’re really here for it. We love how this pair from Free People is low-waisted for a real Noughties vibe.
